WORLD PREMIERE
JAZZ AT NGV: HYBRIDS AND FOLKLORE
WITH THE DEAD NOTES, JOEL STERN, SNAWKLOR, HI GOD PEOPLE, KIM MYHR (Norway), COR FUHLER (Holland), DALE GOREFINKEL, CLOCKED OUT DUO with DAVID CHESWORTH, TERRA ASSTRALIS and mores a part of the Festival Opening celebrations, wander down St Kilda Road to the National Gallery of Victoria and step into Hybrids and Folklore, a colourful performance installation exploring sound-making and improvisation in the natural environment.
Featuring a line-up of celebrated Australian visual artists and musicians, the event will re-imagine the NGV Sculpture Garden in a rapturous roaming performance incorporating improvisation, naturalist sound art, psychedelic folk, interactive sound stations and down-right weird and wonderful music from respected artists including The Dead Notes, Hi God People, Joel Stern, Clocked Out Duo with David Chesworth, Snawklor, Terra Asstralis and Cor Fuhler with Kim Myhr and Dale Gorefinkel. Hybrids and Folklore will excite the imagination of young and old with colour and sound and recast the NGV Sculpture Garden in a way never seen before.

A two-evening evolving happening in celebration of Art Monthly Australia s (AMA) November issue focussing on sound art and noise.Responding to Futurist visionary Luigi Russolo s radical noise-machines, the intonarumori, on the 100th anniversary of the Futurist Manifesto, a selection of contemporary Australian sound artists transform the SLQ terrace into a Mental Orchestra of machines-for-making-noise.

The South Project - Yogyakarta Gathering 21-25 Oct


Perjumpaan selatan-selatan is the fifth International south-south Gathering organised by the South Project.
The project extends existing cultural relations by activating: short-term residencies for artists from across the South; the mutual development of collaborative cultural projects; and focuses on attracting the participation of a wide audience of public, exhibition viewers, workshop participants, students and general public. In addition, it offers potential for international promotion of the outcomes and the ignition of future cultural exchange.

Gallery 3 features the prototype of a multipurpose shelter
currently housing a three tiered mycological nursery.
